Introduction
The Branch Manager is responsible for the overall performance, management, and operational efficiency of the branch. This leadership role ensures alignment with company objectives, budget targets, and service excellence standards. The Branch Manager will oversee staff, compliance, customer satisfaction, asset control, and operational workflows to deliver optimal branch performance.
Job description
- Performance & Financial Management: Achieve or exceed performance targets and branch budgets. Manage costs effectively to optimize operational efficiency. Be responsible for branch P&L reporting and performance insights.
- Operational Oversight: Drive daily operational excellence and service delivery. Ensure efficient coordination of all branch activities and logistics. Oversee all dispatch and receiving activities including cargo and linehauls.
- Compliance & Documentation: Ensure full compliance with regulatory and internal policies. Maintain accurate records for stock control, PODs, purchase orders, and related documentation.
- Reporting & Analysis: Complete and submit operational and distribution reports timeously. Identify trends and recommend process improvements.
- Customer Service: Uphold high standards of customer service and communication. Resolve customer queries and complaints promptly.
- People Management: Lead, motivate, and manage branch staff performance. Handle disciplinary processes in line with HR policy. Ensure continuous onboarding and training of staff.
- Health, Safety & Maintenance: Ensure compliance with OHS legislation and internal safety protocols. Conduct routine driver alcohol testing. Oversee maintenance of branch facilities and vehicle fleet.
- Technology & Process Improvement: Champion the use of OnRoute or other operational systems. Monitor and improve branch routing and delivery efficiency. Track and act on KPIs, initiating corrective action where needed.
- Asset & Housekeeping Management: Serve as custodian of branch assets. Maintain a clean, organized, and professional branch environment.
Minimum requirements
- Grade 12 (Matric).
- A tertiary qualification in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field is preferred.
- Minimum 5 years’ experience as a Branch Manager in the logistics or transport industry.
- Sound understanding of transportation regulations, compliance, and safety protocols.
- Proficient knowledge of City Logistics’ service offerings.
- Valid driver’s license and own vehicle.
- Excellent spoken and written English.
- Proficient in MS Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook).
- Strong knowledge of transportation and logistics software systems.
- Available for after-hours call-outs.
- Strong leadership and team management skills.
